Have you reviewed our Hood County Landmark and Vanished Communities Web Page lately. It contains locations of many of the places grandpa talked or wrote about. This page was recently updated to give directions to Center Point School that was provided by Donald Linney. Are there some places that you know of but are not listed on this page? If so please notify us at ancestor@GranburyDepot.org We will be happy to add them to the page. Frank Saffarrans Hood County Genealogical Society

Janet Stephenson has completed the indexing of many Hood County Loose Court Records and we have given them a home on our WebPages. The papers, filed in a file jacket by case number include: arrest warrants, charges, citations, inventories, depositions, judicial orders, interrogatives, judgments, jury findings, witness lists, jury lists, etc. that relate to the case. The cases indexed here were given to The Hood County Genealogical Society Archive in late 1999 when the papers were found stored in a Granbury home. Many of the papers are missing and many were rendered unreadable by termites and mould damage. The column headed "Q'ty Pgs." contains the number of pages in each file for your use in ordering photo copies of selected files. Willie was also known as Aunt Willie Tidwell or as Aunt Doc. I believe she was a midwife. If you can share any info on these Tidwells I'd greatly appreciate it. I wish I had more to offer you. Probably the most requested on-line record(s) for Hood County has been for Granbury Cemetery. Hold on to your hats - the Granbury Cemetery records are now on-line! The Hood County Genealogical Society would like to express its appreciation to Mary Kate Durham for allowing HCGS to transcribe her 1988 publication "Granbury Cemetery Records." Mary Kate has also updated our on-line transcription to 1993. There are approximately 2,900 headstone inscriptions with many detailed epitaphs. Some people buried in Granbury Cemetery were born in the late 1700's. http://www.granbury.com/~ancestor/church/GranCem.htm Thank you, Virginia Hale WebPages Staff Editor Hood County Genealogical Society
