Whitney Messenger Friday, July 22, 1952 Son of Pioneer Family Buried Here J.R. (Robert) Griffith, 58, passed away at his home in Bandera, Friday July 18. Funeral services were held at Compton Funeral Home in Waco at 10 a.m. Monday, Rev. Flyod B. Conditt of Fort Worth officiating. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Harold of Houston and J.R. of Austin, two brothers; I.L. Griffith of Breckenridge and E.L. Griffith of Waco; one sister, Mrs. Cliff Parson of Lubbock and his 97 year old father J.D. Griffith of Waco. The J.D. Griffith family were pioneer settlers of this section, coming here in 1879.
