They were married in MS in 1837, moved to Bell Co. TX before 1870, and were still there on 1880 Census. The 1900 Hill Co. TX Census lists Polly DAWSON as a widow living with her youngest daughter, Rosa/or Rose (DAWSON) PETERS and her three children. 1. James THOMAS (by her first husband). 2. John PETERS, and 3. Mary PETERS, both by second husband. Rosa is also a widow. Did John DAWSON die in Hill Co. TX? John & Polly DAWSON's son (my ggrandfather) Samuel John DAWSON, who married Nancy Jane BALDWIN, moved to Johnson Co. TX, so I don't know if they lived in Hill Co. or not, but Polly could very well be buried in Hill Co. My own grandparents, John Anderson DAWSON and Susan Frances RUSSELL settled in Johnson Co where my own father was born.
