I have taken the liberty of capitalizing last names to help with scanning. <><><><><><><><><><> The Hill County Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, February 5, at the Marshall and Marshall building located at 201 E. Franklin Street in Hillsboro. The building is across the street from Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Donald EASTLAND of Hillsboro, vice president of the society, will present the program, "Early Settlers of Hill County." He will tell who these pioneers were, when they came and what they did. Visitors will be welcome to attend. In the query section, there are two requests for old photographs. L. DAVIDSON, 4252 Hicks Rd., Garner, NC 27529, would like a picture of the Hill Co. courthouse square, the Covington Street side. Email [email protected] Jim KING, a member of the Southwestern Railroad Historical Society of Dallas needs old photographs of Tower 44 which was the railroad interlocking tower in Hillsboro, located on the north side of town, along the tracks a few blocks north of the Katy Depot. The tower was two-story and commissioned on July 7, 1904. It was retired in 1940 but may have reamined standing for some years beyond that time. Looking for information on William and Ida Bell GREEN McCULLUM who moved to Hillsboro around 1910. Children were Pearl, Ruby and Artie. William was a farmer and a lay preacher. The children may have gone to school in West. Ida Bell died ca. 1915 and William married a woman named Sally, who worked at an orphanage. CARNEY and Mary RAINER. Sallie and Richard's children include Gue CARNEY WEST and Eliza C. WEST. The family came to Hill Co. about 1880. They came to Hill Co. in 1900. He died 1930; she died 1948. Seeking info. about the death of Charles BIRD. He was born 1858 in Florida but killed August 31, 1881 in Hill Co.
