MEMBER BAPTIST CHURCH AND MASONIC LODGE ------------------------------------ Joseph P. Dossey passed away at the family residence, 600 Jefferson Street at 9:15 o’clock Sunday morning, May 8, 1932, aged 59 years, 7 months and 3 days. Although he had been sick for several weeks, Mr. Dossey’s death came rather unexpectedly. He was born Oct 5, 1872 in Monroe County, Ky., and came to Texas in 1890, locating near Abbott, residing in that community until 1917 when he moved to Hillsboro where he had continued to reside since. He was married to Miss Minnie Florence Johnson in 1898. Mrs. Dossey died Feb 1, 1911 and he was married to Miss Kittie Tatum in February, 1931. Mr. Dossey united with the church 45 years ago and had been a member of the First Baptist church for the past 15 years. Fraternally, Mr. Dossey was a member of the Masonic fraternity holding his membership in Hillsboro Lodge No. 196. A. F. & A. M. and members of this order had charge of the burial services and active pallbearers selected from the order were as follows: Joe N. Edmonson, Edger Hamilton, Clarence Young, Hugh Cliette, Joe Patterson and R. C. West. Surviving are his wife and four children: Rev Chas. Y. Dossey of Dallas, Mrs. Homer S. Head of Houston, Ben and Miss Ruth Dossey of Hillsboro and the following brothers and sisters: Jim L. of Hillsboro, K. D. of Corsicana, Riley, G. R. and C. A. Dossey, all of Cave City, Ky., H. T. Dossey of Fort Worth, Mrs. Mollie Goad of Venus, Mrs. W. R. Coley of Midlothian and Mrs. Bittie Jones of Cave City, Ky. ------------------- Funeral services for Joseph P. Dossey, who passed away Sunday morning, were held at the First Baptist Church at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S. B. Culpepper of Cleburne, assisted by Rev. Alvin Swindell. Interment was in Bell Springs Cemetery with Hillsboro Lodge No. 196 A. F. & A. M. in charge of the services at the grave. Active pallbearers were Joe Edmonson, Edgar Hamilton, Clarence Young, Hugh Cliette, Joe Patterson and R. C. West. Mr. Dossey has been a resident of Hill County for over forty years and for the past fifteen years had been a member of the First Baptist Church of this city. The church was filled with friends and the numerous floral offerings attested to the esteem in which the deceased was held.
