Sunday at the > Prairie Valley Baptist Church. Rev. Edwin Crank, Rev. Philliy [sic] Digby > and Rev. Calvin Halbert officiated. Burial was in Whitney Cemetery. > Pallbearers were eight grandsons, George Worley, Ray Worley, Tolbert > Worley, Jr., Odell Chappell, Kenny Sprinkle, Winston Worley, Delton Worley > and Tommy Dean Worley. > A large number of out-of-town relatives and friends attended funeral > services Sunday. > Mr. Worley died at about 5:45 p. m. Friday while fighting a grass fire near > his home three miles south of Whitney. His body was discovered by a > son-in-law, Tracy Andrews, and a neighbor, Emmett Thompson, who were also > fighting the fire some two hundred yards away. > Born in Wynn [sic--should be Wayne] County, Tenn., Mr. Worley was a retired > farmer. He was the last of 11 children of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Worley who > came to Texas 86 years ago and located south of Whitney.
