    3. Good question on the Justice Precincts! I've wondered the same. Is there a way to determine *where* various Precincts were located over time, not only for the 1900 census? I have several references on various documents (death certificates, census, etc.) which lists a certain location as Justice Precinct X -- and have wondered what territory each covered. Any advice would be greatly welcomed! Many thanks! Sara in Houston

    3. I believe my great great grandfather was a resident of Hill County during the time of the 1870 census. Does anyone have a copy of the Hill County Census that could look up a William A. Hewlett? The Hewlett family calimed the Wallace land grant near Ash Creek after the Civil War, arriving in the area in the late 1860's. OPtehr information shows that he moved to McLennan County in about 1972. Any help wouild be greatly appreciated! Aloha Wayne

    3. Yes they did watch the railroad because when the railroad was built, every walk of life usually were around, touring, visiting, begging, robbing etc..... I have a Tom Bishop who was involved in the McDade shoot out in 1883 if this helps. If it does I will pass you to someone that can help thanks Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: "drouse" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 16, 2001 2:17 PM Subject: Re: Homer Bishop > Could anyone explain what a Railroad Ranger is. I would love to communicate with anyone who is connected to any Bishops in Hill or neighboring counties. Cathy just found my grandfather Andrew Bishops grave at Blanton Cemetery. I have been looking for ages. Homer may have been his brother. I sent for his RRR file at the TX state library archives. Hope it contains some good info. Thanks for your help. Dorothy

    3. Dear Dorothy, Homer L. Bishop, b. 1873 AL, m. 1897 (maybe in Johnson Co. TX) Nannie Cavender Crain, a widow with 3 children. Nannie died in Shreveport LA in 1944. Homer survived her, but he may have also died in LA. Does this sound like the fellow you are looking for? I know a lady who is the granddaughter of Nannie. She probably remembers Homer. Let me know.
