There's something (a lot!) I don't understand about land records that I'm hoping one of you experts might be able to help with. My ancestor sold a piece of her property in 1837 that was situated near Whitney in Hill County - it was Robertson County at that time. I found the transaction on the Robertson County microfilm deed roll, but the actual grant was recorded by the Milam County clerk. Similar situation in 1854 - a family member sold property in Mercer's Colony which was in Dallas County, but the transaction showed up in the land records for Hill County. Why would that be? Deven
