Alexander W. Kerr came to Hillsboro from Sparta, White Co., Tennessee as a young man. He was a clerk and bookkeeper in a grocery store in Hillsboro, and then became the proprietor of a dry goods and grocery store, which he conducted successfully for a number of years. He closed this business to enter the real estate, loan and insurance business. He married Florence Rice, (d/o Capt. E. J. and Martha Gravely Rice) of Cleburne, Johnson Co., Texas about 1890 at Itasca, Texas. They had a family of three: Alexander W., Julian and Philip. I am assuming that their children were born in Hillsboro. In about 1902, this family moved to Oklahoma. Are there Hill County publications prior to 1900 that might mention Mr. Kerr?
