I have the 1880 Census with John E. Dawson and Nancy M. Dawson and 5 children. I haven't been able to find them in the 1870 Census. In the 1850 Dallas County Census, I found Hanson Hustean with Prudence and 9 children. I haven't found them in Hill County. Their youngest son Finas (or Phineas) H. Hustead was born in 1847 in Texas. Is the McDonough you mention perhaps Prudence's maiden name?
