Louise, I find some Pendleton buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery, which is closer in to Whitney; however, it too is off of Hwy. 22. They are: Edmund, born 1825 died 1925 Elizabeth A. born 1856 died 1894 (wife of Edmund) Henry born 1894 died 1894 If these are not some of your family you may want to contact Roy Bessire at e-mail address: rcbess@aol.com. I know he is working on a Pendleton family. However he may not be able to get back to you before May 1 as he is working on First Family Applications at the moment and will be until May 1. Butch, would you check for any Pendleton names. My great grandfather's family lived in the Woodbury area although he is buried in Peoria , I have not found all of his children. I would appreciate any information you might have . Thanks Louise
Butch, When you can, would you please check your list for any Swindoll/Swindel [any spelling], McClung, Robinson, or a Matilda Williams, b. 1833. These names are connected to my g grandparents, Thos. & Emily Lewellen who are buried in the "New" Woodbury Cem. Thank you for any help. Mary Wallace in Ca.
James and Lynn, There is one Gibson with a marker in Old Woodbury. Effie E. dau of J.R. & W.A.Gibson, b March 3,1890 d May 14,1890. If you have not seen this cemetery, you will not understand this, but there are so many "unknowns" here, that it is quite possible that the parents of this child was buried here also. Due to vandalism many headstones are missing or destroyed. also many graves are simply marked with field stones or brick. One of the reasons this is taking so long for me to complete is that when I finish, and if it is not edited to much, the reader will get a pretty good idea of what I saw while there. I am trying to be as descriptive as possible as to what is where. I hope this will help you. Butch Cockerham P.S. There were no Killoughs there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James and Lynn Gibson" <jlgibson80@alltel.net> To: <TXHILL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 06, 2003 3:46 PM Subject: Re: [TXHILL] Woodbury Cemetery > Thank you. Dear Karen, Are you related to Scott Cotton? I think he must have grown up in Hubbard. He evidentially was a close friend of my aunt, Neely Walton Rambo who lived in San Angelo most of her adult life. I have a letter he wrote her. From the letter I gathered they were friends from way back. I would be most interested in exchanging info on any GREER family in Hill county, Texas. I have many ties to Greer, plus, in contact with others of GREER who were in neighboring counties 'early.' My grandfather and his brother, Isaac and Charlie Hudson, left Noxubee county, Miss. in 1886, arrived in Hill County, Texas, with the purpose of living and working for a 'cousin', thought to be a Henry Greer. They did go to work for another.......and now, a 'long lost' cousin and I believe the 'boys' may have come to work/live with one of his ancestors/relatives who lived in Frost, Texas. Ike Hudson married Carrie E Pate, while his brother, Charlie, married her sister, Eula Pate. My father, Charles J. Hudson was born in Hill county, Tx., 1913. The family moved on into Haskell county and Knox county. If there are any ties to 'Aquilla of 1716" we will be triple related! Like I said, I have many ties, and many more contacts when it comes to 'GREER.' God Bless, --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). My family lived in Itasca & there was an Irvin family there. I remember a Claude but don't recall the others. OOOOOOOps, Big mistake, sorry ....... as I hit the send button it occurred to me I had spelled Bryan's name wrong, I found him in 1930 in Oklahoma with father William H. Will try to send you the census page, if I can't will send all info later and will go back and retrace my steps with the proper spelling. Lynette in CA
Hi Lynn, This is briefly what I found or should say did not find. Only William Gibson that would seem to fit at all was in Hillsboro City, 1900, 50, Married, but a lodger and a RR conductor. Could find no Maude, Sophia or Byran. I looked in both Hill and Limestone counties 1880 I could find no William with a father named George. I, also, tried Byran in 1930, as that has an all name index ........ none. Sorry, I could not be of more help, if you come up with more info, I'll be happy to try again ......... remember, I may have missed someone. Good Luck, Lynette in CA
