Could someone look up a grave site or record for William McKinney, born 1815 and died in the summer of 1868? His widow, Elizabeth McKinney and her children are in Hill Co by the Fall of 1868. She was buying land in her name and also the first son William H McKinney bought land that year. We think Elizabeth died by September, 1885 and do not know where she is buried. We assume she died in Hill Co. Two of their children, Nancy Caroline McKinney born 1845, and Joseph McKinney, born 1850, were with them on the 1860 census for Lincoln Co.,TN. They are not listed with Elizabeth in 1870 on the Hill Co., census. I would love to know what happened to the children and also to know where William and Elizabeth are buried. I will appreciate any help. Thanks, Dortha McElroy Greenlee
This is a valuable map of Texas. Worth investment. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0940672642/ref=lib_dp_TFCV/104 -2067596-6741503?v=glance&s=books&vi=reader#reader-link
I am searching for the burial location of William F. Woody 1843 - died aft 1900 and his wife, Alta Woody 1841 - aft 1900. They are found on the 1900 Hill Co. census. Does anyone know what part of the county constituted "Justice Pct #6" in 1900? I've looked at the Enumeration District descriptions on microfilm, but couldn't make any sense of it. Thank you Terry Walker
I looked up Ancestry.com's description. It says the following: District 48 Justices precincts; No. 6 (part of) All of the precinct south of the Covington and Kimble public road. District 49 Justices precincts; No. 6 (part of) All of precinct south of the Covington and Kimble public road. I take this to mean that Precinct No. 6 is divided into two parts....north and south. And, that the parts are located on the north and south sides of the Covington and Kimble public road. If I am wrong, someone please help me here. I would like to know if I am wrong. The town of Covington is located in the northern part of Hill Co., just below Johnson Co. I do not know where Kimble is located. I hope this helps. Shirley

Mary, the Crisp and the unknowns were in a family plot with the names I sent last night. Maybe if I keep trying I will get it right. Mary, I think I did you an injustice. Please accept my apology, but in my haste to find your Lewellen plus several other names that were sent me last night, I over looked some info that might be important to you. I didn't realize it until I was looking up some names tonight. Here is what I am talking about straight from my notes: C. is a family plot enclosed with iron fence. W.H. Chrisp b 5/17/1849 d 8/19/1891 Unknown, unreadable headstone-footstone has initials T.L Unknown unreadable headstone-footstone has initials A.J.L. If you have a chance to visit this cemetery, the family plot is in an area that has been vandalized a lot, but seems intact. It is in the right front quarter of the cemetery about 5 or 6 rows back from front. I utilized only a mirror to read the headstones as I didn't want to put anything with any type of chemical base on them. Someone with a more professional approach might be able to read the two that I couldn't. again I apologize for overlooking this info. Many thanks Butch!! Your time & kindness is most appreciated. The Lewellen info. was a connection! Thanks again, Mary
From what I understand and have been told Francis A Herring my ggreat grandmother's father was Peyton Herring and her mother was Mary "Polly " Evans Herring , first wife of Peyton Herring . James Matteson Herring , father was Peyton Herring, mother was Ludicia Friend second wife of Peyton Herring. I don't have a lot on this line. I know several of the Herrings are buried in the Peoria Cemetery where my ggreat grandfather Andrew Pendleton is buried. And there are a lot in the records at the County Court house. Francis (ggg) was last found in Limestone County in the 1900 census living with her daughter Sarah Rowell. Thanks to Roy for that information.
Not mine, unfortunately, but interesting in that one of Dan and Josephine's half brothers was also named Alex. Though I know where HE was buried, maybe this was a cousin. So I'll hold this information for a bit. I've never understood WHY they were in Hillsboro together when the rest of the family was in Williamson and Travis Counties. Thanks for your help.
