Lynette, I just checked my working copy of Old Woodbury Cemetery, and there are no Marshalls or Spencers with a marker. This cemetery has been vandalized a great deal and there are a lot of headstone missing. When the cemetery finally comes on line, you will see that for every two headstones listed, there is an "unknown" listed also. I am sorry I couldn't help you out, but if you get good info that these people were buried there, I would go with it simply because there are so many headstines missing. Butch, would you be kind enough to check for the names "Marshall" and "Spencer"? Many thanks, Lynette in CA
My grandparents lived in Woodbury, Cannon Co., Tennessee. However, at the turn of the century my great grandfather, Dillard Franklin Bell moved to Texas on several occasions. My uncle, Winford Bell, told me that they lived in Hillsboro, Texas. Frank met and married Ruby Gunter in Texas, November 12, 1899. She was born, July 4, 1880 (possibly Hillsboro) Her parents are Francis and Malissa. Uncle Winford said he was born there. My grandmother, Ila J. Bell born September 28, 1900, was possibly born there. On one of several trips to Texas She met and married Early Lonis 'Earl' Rivers born September 26, 1901. They married sometime before 1922 and moved soon thereafter to Woodbury, Cannon Co., Tn. He died four days after his daughter was born. (he died of typhoid fever and homesickness) He was only 22/23. Can any one make a connection with either of these families? Charles Page Collierville, Tennessee 901-861-5077 ldpage@bellsouth.net
Mary, Sorry, but I don't know of anyone that has anything from Itasca. Best person to ask is Cathy Shelly from Hill Co. site. She knows more about what is going on with the cemeteries than anyone I know in that area. Glad what I sent was a help as far as the Martins go. If I can help in the future, let me know. I'm also looking for Hillsboro Cemetery info. Could somone please tell me if William F. Woody and his wife, Alta are buried there? They are both last found on the 1900 census of Hill Co. Thanks!! Butch, Yes-----that is the second wife of George Calvin Martin--1900 cen. records list her name as Malinda --b. Oct 1846. The R. T. & Jennie Martin with an infant son d. Howdy Mary! Ok... Be glad to share info... Who are you descended from? I'm a descendant of Jesse M. Beavers and Martha Melissa Ware. He's buried in Ridge Park Cemetery. She's buried in Pontotoc, MS area. Their daughter Martha "Mattie" Elvira "Vira" Beavers was my gg grandmother. She's buried here in Abbott Cemetery with her husband, John Daniel Murphy. Their son, Arthur Lehman Murphy married Mary Lou Greenhill (my great grandparents - Arthur was originally buried in Abbott, but moved to Waco later, where they lay side by side.) and their daughter, Dorothy Murphy married Oather Clifford Holland, Jr. Their son, Donald R. Holland, Sr., is my dad. I didn't get plot map today... exhausted and had to go visit elderly relation in hospital in Hillsboro... Planning on doing that tomorrow... Playing hookie in AM to study for final... Mary, While I was looking up the postings last night, something struck me as odd. I did two postings on the Martins, and if you look at them, there is an infant by his second wife buried there also. Or it seems to be anyway. Keep an eye out for any BRYAN(T). Samuel Daniel BRYAN(T) and his sister Delean Josephine BRYAN(T).They were living in Hillsboro in about 1942. So my assumption is that they died in that area in the 40s to the 50s.Thanks.OH, and it is Dianne who is doing all the school work. I certainly take my hat off to her!! Hello again, Diana, I'm not really related to any Smiths.....just happened to marry and divorce one! My maiden name is Railsback. My parents are both from Bosque County. I was born in and grew up in Lubbock and then moved to Austin to go to U.T. I don't blame you at all for not going for the R.N. just yet. You and your children need a break from all that work! It is difficult enough to go to school without all the other responsibilities that a person has! And, speaking from experience, single parenting is a real job in itself! Wishing you the best. You sound as if you are a person with lots of determination and that's what it takes! LOL Jackie... I don't know about awesome... I breathe in and breathe out... and just try to stay afloat! This semester has been A&P I and A & P II... and nutrition, fundamental nursing, Dimensional Analysis for meds (math) and Medical Terminology... Feel like I'm leaving something out.... but I think it's just my brain is fried! 16 semester hours and no time to do anything. 16 year old wanting to go thru nursing program too. I don't think I'll go straight thru for my RN immediately after this LVN program. Think I'll take a break and go to work! LOL Take courses on side... My kids are 9, 10, 13, 16 and 19. 4 girls with a boy in the middle. Oldest is in college at Wichita Falls. I'm researching Hollands, Hutsons, Greenhills, Murphy's, Campbells, Beavers, Tinsley's, Harris, Youngs, Winkles, Martins and many more... just not actively at the moment... You're welcome for plot map info... Hope it helps you! If I ever have time to volunteer again, I'll be happy to get back to doing lookups and such... I hate having to say no... but I'm so limited right now. My school is in Hillsboro and I don't ever get to see courthouse! Y'all don't forget that the Courthouse Annex has death records for the City of Hillsboro itself.... All other Hill County deaths are at County Clerks office, except for my ggg grandfather... grrr... County Clerks office should be able to tell you whether you can find your people in book at Annex office though. Have to get up at 4:30 to go do my student nursing at the nursing home, so will say good night to y'all... Di
Richards doesn't ring a bell, but it's a good size cemetery and I haven't been there much in last 6 months. I don't spend alot of time there... I just go and look for certain names and leave... Locklear just rang a bell strictly because Heather Locklear and Farah Fawcett were two look alikes and I think it was near the Fawcetts in Ridge Park. There are many graveyards in Hill County... Thought I heard something about the genealogical society working on a cemetery book... if so... I want a copy! Anybody know anything? Thanks... I can fail all my finals and still manage to pass, but would like to maintain my averages... Just a bit overwhelmed at the moment, because I'm taking pre-requisites during this 1 year course. So it's alot to do for a single mother of 5. I just want the year over with so I can take a break!
