Dorothy, Something to suggest. I just posted an overview of Albert Battles CW Pension records I received from the TX Archives at GenForum. After alot of thought on where would be a good website to list the information, I thought GenForum the best. You can view my overview at www.GenForum.com the go to Battles Family Genealogy, I believe I posted on the 2/24. I tried to think of a heading that would show I was posting information found rather than wanted. Just a suggestion. Hugs../\/\arleen

I'm pretty sure he is subscribed to this list....but since I've wiped out my saved e-mails, and rootsweb is still down for me to search the archives... I've just posted a picture on the photo site, of a Mr.& Mrs. Rainbolt, that is most likely Joseph Millard Rainbolt & wife Josie Kourt, or James Julius Douglas Rainbolt & wife Matilda Kourt. These were the brother of Della Francis Rainbolt, who married Lewis McIlroy. I'm hoping that maybe James can identify these Rainbolt's for me! Right now, the picture is #130. If you get this, James (or if anyone out there has his e-mail addy, send it to me)... please reply to me at [email protected] Thanks! Barbara

He married in Hill County, Texas, Oct. 2, 1901, to Nettie Mae Brown. b 1880 Hill CO., daughter of Joseph M.Brown. He was called Jim Davis and on a some land records as J.P. Davis. He was said to have been raised in and around Grayson Co., Texas, but also resided in Hill County at times. Any clues on his parents appreciated. Thank You. Loretta Davis

Betty(e) B McKinney and John Lash were married in Hill Co., TX on February 2, 1875 (or applied for marriage license.) I believe she was the daughter of Elizabeth McKinney, shown on the Hill Co. census record of 1870. Her mother was head of household and Betty was 14 years old and one other child was still at home, Eliza, 17 years old. Both girls were born in Lincoln Co., TN. Their father was William McKinney who died in the summer of 1867. Elizabeth died before 1885, probably in Hill Co. Would appreciate help with these names. Thanks, Dortha McElroy Greenlee
Kelly, You might try http://www.biffle.org . I have not seen the name J. James, but there were a group of Biffles that came to Texas. If you can make a link, contact me. I am also a Biffle descendent and have some great info. [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: Kelly C. Hi Barb, I do know how devastating it can be because I lost all my address and all when my computer crashed back in Nov. Cathy _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Through absolute stupidity.... I was doing what a service tech was telling me to do, and I've deleted (and netscape doesn't go to the recycle bin....it just disappears forerver)... all my mail...saved mail, sent mail, a years worth of genealogy mail, all my contacts.... my address book. I've corresponded with many of you....some about common ancestors....many about the photo site. I'd appreciate it if you would write me directly at [email protected], if we've ever corresponded, so I will have your address, and if we ever corresponded over our own common ancestry... let me know... especially if you sent me any contact info etc. I can't even begin to tell you how devastating this is for me! Barb
Barbara, I had the same thing happen to me, not once, but twice. This second time taught me something.....it has something to do with "backup" AND did you know, did any of you know, that you can your mail on your hard drive and not in your mail program? I made a folder, named it AAsaved mail (I threw in AA to make it appear first on the list of programs in the management) when I want to keep mail, I save it to that folder, not within the mail program, but on the hard drive. Besides that, I found that although I lost a bit of very important information, in time most of that lost stuff was replaced anyway. Don't fret too long. God Bless, E. Hello, Linda. Just today there is an article in the Lufkin Daily News regarding the preservation of old cemeteries. In the article there is a reference to the rights of a family member to visit the gravesite of their loved ones even though the cemetery is owned by a private individual. Notification must be provided to the land owner before accessing the cemetery site. You can probably contact your state representative for more information on the specific law and all that it entails. Shannon Capps -----Original Message----- From: Linda R.
