    3. Actually, I would love to invite several of my ancestors to dinner and ask them questions. My ancestors on both my Maternal and Paternal sides of the family settled on the Henderson & Kaufman County lines when coming to Texas. It's my understanding that the County lines between these two counties moved so much that sometimes my ancestors lived in Kaufman County and sometimes they lived in Henderson County, without ever physically moving themselves. With that said, I would most like to have Thanksgiving Dinner with my following ancestor and ask him questions: William Chastain "W. C." FLINT. Born 1848 in Kentucky, died 16 Jan. 1908 in Styx, TX. on the Kaufman/Henderson County line. Buried in the Old Berry Cemetery in Henderson County. Supposedly came to Texas alone sometime before 1884 and settled in Styx, TX. Owned the General Store in Styx which was connected to the Post Office where he was Post Master until his death. From what I can gather, he was a very mysterious person and never told the family anything about his childhood or his family back in Kentucky except that he had a brother named Andrew FLINT and a sister named Abigail FLINT. When he settled in Texas he first married a lady by the name of Etta DEATHERAGE on 30 Nov. 1884 in Kaufman County, TX. Nothing has been found on her after their marriage. Then, on 22 June 1887 in Kaufman County, TX., he married my Gr-Grandmother, Martha Lavina "Vina" NUTT BERRY, widow of Henry R. BERRY who had died 25 Aug. 1886 in Kaufman County, TX. and also buried in the Old Berry Cemetery. Vina and both husbands lived in and around Styx, TX. She died 25 Nov. 1940 and buried in Shiloh Cemetery at Kemp, Kaufman, TX. My questions to W. C. FLINT would be: 1. Why were you so mysterious about your family in Kentucky? 2. What happened to your first wife? 3. Did you change your name from something else to FLINT when you came to Texas? (I have searched the entire US for the past 30 years trying to find a FLINT family with children by the names of William Chastain, Andrew, & Abigail. No luck yet!). 4. Were you a member of Quantrail's Raiders or the James gang at one time? (I was told by a cousin, who was very familiar with Kaufman/Henderson County History, that a group of men who had rode with Quantrail and the James gang at one time, broke away from the gang, changed their names, came to Texas, settled on the border of Kaufman & Henderson Counties and became respectable citizens for the rest of their lifes about the same time my Gr-Grandfather settled in Texas. Don't know if this is a true story or not but would love to find out for sure!). 3. I would love to have all of my Henderson Co. ancestors join me for Thanksgiving, but most of all my Great Grandfather, Dr. William Harris FAIN. He was raised up in the area of Edom, & Murchison. He received his license to practice medicine in Texas in 1884. He married Eugenia Evalyn DARDEN in Henderson Co. Nov. 19, 1877. They had Oscar, Eustice, William Horace, Flora, & my grandfather, William Stewart FAIN. My grandfather was born Dec. 10, 1888. My Great Grandfather, Dr. William Harris FAIN died shortly after my Grandfather's birth.......or so the family story says. I can not find a clue in the records of his death, when or where. I know that my Grandfather was born in Murchison, so if his father died shortly after his birth, I would think that would have been their residence at the time of his death. I would have thought that the death of a young doctor would have been recorded in the newspaper. The questions I would like to have asked would be : When, where, & why did you die so young? Where are you buried? Where is your mother, Nancy Lethe CHAPPELL FAIN, buried? When did she die? She was supposed to have died in Henderson Co. Who am I kidding...............once I get to thinking about the questions, I don't think I could really find a stopping place! ;) My mind will be spinning all night, just thinking about it. Happy Thanksgiving all! Robbie TAYLOR READ Fourls1223@aol.com wrote: >We will soon be celebrating Thanksgiving.
