I am trying to locate descendants of the Thornton family of GA, MS and Louisiana in Henderson County. In particular, I'm looking for descendants of Wiley and Elizabeth Johnston Thornton (also my ancestors) of Pike County, GA. At one time, Littleton Thornton and his wife resided in Henderson County. I've found reference to them in the GenWeb Project. His widow applied for his Veteran's of Civil War Pension in Henderson County. It is probable that a descendant in your county is in possession of Littleton Thornton's family Bible that contains the listing of all of Wiley and Elizabeth's children. I would like to make contact with them if they are still in the county to get a copy of those records. The Bible was in Texas as recently as 1964, and I suspect that it still may be around and that someone in your area may know of its current location.
