The IF Barton and SE Panther family Bible is in with my mothers records. The website used to have her name with this data do not know why it changed. I do not know Dorothy but will check. Sylvania Elizabeth "Betty" Laymance Panther Barton was my mom's grandmother and she was raised for many years after the death of her mother by Betty and Frank Barton married 10 Oct 1883. She remained close and while in High school helped take care of Betty she is mentioned in the will of SE Barton. She spent much time with her grandparents and talked often about the time she spent with them and the stories that Betty told her as they walked the mile and a half each way to church. Thomas Elizabeth Panther lived with her mother and in 1880 she was living with her parents Jacob Regan Laymance and Amanda Ethyl Garner. Whom she moved back in with after the death of Thomas Panther in Nov 1875. 215 219 Laymance Ra_ern W M 45 Farmer GA -- -- Laymance Amandy W F 42 W Kp house MO -- -- Laymance Sadveney W F 22 D Wid Kp house TX GA MO (Sylvania E Panther) Laymance Marget W F 21 D TX GA MO Laymance Mary W F 14 D TX GA MO Laymance Tibby J. Not sure why Tommie is not living with them she may be with another relative. I did not see William Green Barton in the census and the Panther family lived across the road from them. The road was a waggon track that ended at the Barton place as late as the 1920 census which says enumeration stops here after HR Parker who had purchased the Barton Farm. It is possible the enumerator skipped this road and if Tommie were living with her other grandmother who was widowed they were not counted. Martha Panther would have been 56 and all her children would have married, Tommie may have been there as a companion we may never know exactly where she was in 1880. I am interested in what happened with the siblings of Thomas Panther I have located 2 of his sisters but the name Panther just vanishes from Henderson County where they are in the 1870 Census.
