They left Georgia after the birth of their first child Drewry I Wheat b. 1849 - 1850 and their second child was born in Mississippi Nancy E. Wheat born in 1852 their third child Mary A. Wheat was born in Texas and the 1860 Census shows them in Henderson County. They reportedly traveled with her father Isaac J. Laymance and possibly other family members. They stopped in Mississippi due to harsh winter weather. This is family lore but the census shows where the children were born. William is reported to have died in 1862 and Matilda remarried James W Crumpler in a short time their first child was born in 1863. In 1880 Census they show up in Hopkins County. There were 5 Wheat Children in the 1870 Census and 5 Crumpler Children in the 1880 Census. 1870 Census Drewry I Wheat is listed as Isaac D. Wheet The name in 1880 is again Wheat. I am seeking any information on this family and their descendants. I have more information on them if it is needed by anyone.
