Once again, dear list, you have been great in giving me leads and other ideas to pursue. So I pursued them and now I'm back to pick your brains :) My family story says that my DAMRONs came to TX in 1844 (in 1840 they were in Newton Co, MO and in 1850 they were in Henderson Co TX). Actually, I found one story that says they went to Ellis Co in 1844 (wasn't formed until 1849), another story says my 2G grandmother was born in Kaufman Co, TX (on 8 Feb 1850--that could be true), and another story says that she was born in Trinidad, Kaufman Co. I looked at a modern road atlas (it's hard to tell the county lines on it), but it looks like Trinidad is in HENDERSON Co to me. Which county is it in now? What county was it in 1844-1850? Also, my great-grandmother told the story (that has been handed down) that the DAMRONs left Trinidad, Kaufman Co for Mexico, but got only as far as San Antonio where the Mr. Copeland and his wagon train headed for CA, so off they went. Also, there seems to be a story running around that says the DAMRONs, SHULTZ', and possibly the DAUGHERTY's (or various spellings) were Mercer Colonists. Any ideas or resources on that? I think I need a week in Salt Lake!!! Thank you once again for all your help! Sincerely, Cheri Mello Torrance, CA
