Athens Review 7-23-1979 SERVICES PENDING FOR Ruth BLETHEN Services for Mrs. Ruth E. BLETHEN, 76, of Athens are pending with CARROLL & LEHR Funeral Home. Mrs. BLETHEN died Sat. morning in a Houston hospital after a long illness. A native of Malakoff, she had lived in Athens 42 years. She was a retired clerk of the Henderson Co. Clerk's office and was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 177 in Athens. She was one of the organizers of the Henderson County Historical Society, and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 23. She was also a member of the DAR and Women's Business Professional Club of Athens. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Stanley HOUNSEL of Athens, Mrs. Helon MARTIN of Midland and Mrs. Jack MORRIS of St. Augustine, FL; one uncle Lee BOYETTE of Malakoff; several nieces, and one nephew. The family request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or choice of charity. GRAVESIDE SERVICES FOR RUTH BLETHEN Graveside services for Mrs. Ruth E. BLETHEN 76, of Athens are set for 3 p.m. Sat. in the Younger Cemetery near Purdon (Navarro Co. TX) with the Rev. Richard PALMER officiating. CARROLL & LEHR Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. BLETHEN died Saturday morning in a Houston hospital following a long illness.
