Supposedly born on Sept. 10, 1871 in MS. He died 1920 in Bell County, Texas. His eldest son, Wister Allen Smith worked and lived in Henderson County, Texas. His last few years was spent in the Highland Park Nursing Home in Athens, Texas. Would be grateful to anyone who can tell me about my uncle Wister and his dad's people, the Smith's.

My guess would be an atrocity to do with the Civil War...or both contracted a deadly disease....but I've not been able to find this information as yet. They came from SC around 1850. I don't have a Leah Catherine or Azzie Lou. I don't find any marriages to Whites. I found Rufus Clayton, 40 and wife Leah, 33, b.1867 TX on the 1900 census in the 4th Pct. in Henderson County. I'm not sure where that is. The area where the cemetery is located is in the 6th Pct. ( far northwestern part of the county). All the Whites listed in 1870 showed an Athens P.O.

    2. I am researching the WARREN Family that lived in Henderson County, James Madison WARREN and his brother, Capt. Jere WARREN, Jere moved to Brazoria, TX. after the civil war. And James Madison stayed there, He had 3 boys, Jeremiah C. born 1861, James L. born 1862, Benjamin Franklin Sr. born 1868, Sarah Jane born 1871, and Minnie V. born 1876. Benjamin F. Sr. was married to Paralee REAGER 15 April 1897, their children : Jere (a Female), born 1898, Merl, ( a Female) born 1899, Paralee, born 1901, and Benjamin F. Jr. (Peck) WARREN born 1902. Jere WARREN married J. R. PARKS and moved to Denton, TX., And Mele WARREN died young, Paralee WARREN married A. B. (Fon) TAYLOR, of Henderson, and Benjamin F.
