Posted on: Henderson County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Henderson/11452 Surname: MCDANIEL, GOWIN, JONES ------------------------- Searching for info on Alex (Alec) Mcdaniel or family. Alex was born in late 1800's. He married Mary Lee Gowin on April 9,1907 in Kauffmann. Co. I know they had a son named Edgar Mcdaniel and then a daughter born on 1918 named Mary Lillie Mcdaniel. Alex remarried to a Alice Jones on Sep 10,1920 in Rusk TX and I know they had a son named Clovis Ely Mcdaniel. Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you, so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just don't know how much you have helped me in my search. The Faulks were one of the familiesthat I have narrowed it down to, but I was not sure. Again, thank you. My family will be pleased.

I HAVE GOOD ACCESS TO THE SLAVE SCHEDULES FOR HENDERSON COUNTY AT THE DALLAS PUBLIC LIBRARY. AS A MATTER OF FACT, I HAVE COPIED THEM SO THAT I CAN COMPARE THEM WITH THE INFO. ABOUT MY ANCESTORS THAT I ALREADY HAVE. I AM HOPING THAT SOMEONE MAY HAVE OTHER SUGGESTIONS AS TO HOW I MAY CONTINUE MY SEARCH PRE-1870. I HAVE ALSO RETRIEVED INFO. ABOUT MY ANCESTORS FROM THE VOTER'S REGISTRATION LIST FROM 1867. THIS IS HOW I FOUND OUT HOW LONG SOME OF MY ANCESTORS HAD BEEN IN THE STATE, COUNTY, AND PRECINT. THANKS.
Can you or anyone else recommend a specific location that I can look for specific slave names listed by their slave-owners? I have researched my family history back to 1860, but cannot go any further unless I compare my ancestors ages listed on the 1870 census with those the owners listed in the 1860 census. It is very tedious work, however, I have narrowed my search down to a couple of potential owners. I am looking for any help or suggestions that anyone may have. I am very fortunate in that I know for a fact that my ancestors were slaves in the Fincastle area of Henderson County. As a matter of fact, Judge J. J. Faulk mentions my Great, Great, Great Grandmother, Flora Allen, and her brother, Green Douglas as some of the only surviving individuals from the prosperous Fincastle period in his book, "The History of Henderson County." Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
To [email protected] There is Microfilm available of what was called Slave Schedules from many states. How close are you to a Genealogy library? I live in Austin, which has a really good library. If you do not have a library close to you that would have it or be able to order it for you, send me names and pertanent dates and I will see what I can find at the library here on my next visit. Martha W. Barker Austin Tx.
For those of you that think you might have Native American blood in your line, I have the Guion Miller Roll "Plus" book by Bob Blankenship and will do look ups. This book has the 1909 Guion Miller Roll plus the 1898 Dawes Roll information for those that were on both rolls. Includes all applicants for the Miller Roll, both accepted and not accepted for the Court of Claims settlement. Please do not sent just a surname. Include both first and last names. Unfortunately, this isn't the Sallie I'm looking for. Mine was born in 1866 in MS. I should have mentioned that in my first post.
