Thank you so much for the reply. I was afraid the graves would not be listed, probably unmarked. I would like to take my aunt over there to see if she might remember where they are. Do you have directions to the town/cemetery from Athens? Are You one of the Nichols descendants? My Dad's half brother was named James Asa Mc Manus. We think that Mary Nichols was a sister to Asa P. Nichols. I want to take a look at all my Nichols info, I know that America Nichols does not have a marked grave IF she is buried in Sand Flat Cemetery. ?? She would have been young tho. Asa P. Nichols shows on his tombstone as 38 years old. I did track down that Asa P. Nichols, as well as the Mc Manus boys were all in the Confederate Army from Henderson County. I Think its great to have some-one researching the Nichols. Fill me in on how your fit. Best Regards. Evelyn

I am still looking for the rest of his family. On the 1860 Henderson Co. census there is a Jane Nicols age 50 200.00 SC, Asa P. Nicols age 17 waggoner GA, John M. Murphy age 9 orphan AR, George W. Nicols age 28 400.00 GA, Riece Nicols age 7 TN, John Nicols age 5 TN, Samuel Nicols age 4 TN. I believe that George and Asa are brothers. I also believe that Riece, John and Samuel are George's sons. Where was the rest of Asa's family in 1870? I have been told that George was killed in the Civil war. Where were the boys until Reese and John showed up on the 1880 Leon Co. census?

Hello Everyone, I have been meaning to ask about "Post Oak" and Margaret Haas's recent query inspired me. My Dad, Warren Tiner and his siblings were all born in Post Oak Community. Three of his siblings died young and it is likely they are buried there. Does anyone have info on this community or cemetery? Is the community still there? Look forward to hearing from you. After a trip last week to Athens, Texas my great aunt, Minnie Bea Thraser, cleared a few things up for us. We now know that her brother, Aubry Alton Williams, who died during WW2, wife Mozell Costello never remarried nor did they have children, but she did live not to far from Athens. Bea could not remember the name of the town. Anyway Mozelle died about 3 years ago. I am wondering if there is anyone related to her are knew her, if so I would like to hear from you. Thank, Sandy Williams Clardy
