If you have Confederate ancestors, you might find a pension file for them through this site http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/lobby/cpi/cpindex.htm You can search the database with a surname and/or county and send an e-mail request. The charge is $.10 per page and $1.00 minimum. I've just requested two files for possible ancestors of my husband. There is one more cemetery online - Young - and more to come soon. Thanks to Rusty, Sue, and anyone else who is helping this project, whether you're reading a cemetery, or computerizing the data. Check out http://www.rootsweb.com/~txharris/hcem.htm I've just come back from a week in Michigan, with my own personal research, and saw tombstones for just about all of my ancestors who lived there. The available cemetery listings, while not online, were helpful in finding the graves, but a personal visit revealed monuments in 2 cases and a correction in place of death for another. While my first choice would always be to visit a cemetery in person, that's not always possible, and an online listing runs a close second. If you want to be involved in the cemetery listing project for Harrison Co., drop a line to me, or to Rusty at bccook@nh.ultranet.com or on a national level, check out the Tombstone Transcription Project at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/ Have a great day!
