I am looking for the parents of my great-grandmother,Corinne MERRITT (ca 1862- 14 Jul 1881), and perhaps also known as Sarah Corinne MERRITT. She appears in the 1880 census in Marshall, Harrison,TX at age 18, living alone and working as a housekeeper. The records say she was born in Louisiana. Would anyone have access to the census records or other records to check if a likely MERRITT household is also living there at the time? She died in Galveston, TX in 1881 after giving birth to my grandmother. I have reviewed the Louisiana census records of 1870, and although I located many MERRITT households, I could find no clue for hers. I could have just overlooked it. I understand Marshall was an entertainment mecca in those days, so that may be what drew the young woman there. Thx for any pointers, help, etc. Bill Penny MN
