I thought Harrison Co. might be a good point of entrance for those traveling West. The route you mentioned by the rivers sounds reasonable. I read one account from Cass County where the travelers stopped in Louisiana to make a crop before continuing on their journey. That was surely a necessity among some of the families which were as large as the family of Willis S. Wingo. I am sure there were those who traveled entirely by land and some who took advantage of the waterways. Thanks for your input.
