Finnis and Rebecca BAKER were the parents of Eliza BAKER 1853-1925. Eliza married Jack Isaac FORD, and they lived in Harrison County, Texas. Don't know if Eliza's parents or any siblings lived in area or not. Would like more information on this family. Have descendant information and willing to share.

I've been looking around the Harrison County GenWeb page. I found these FORDS mentioned in the Old Scrapbook kept by the Hill Sisters. The following FORDS would have been in Harrison County sometime between 1870 and 1890: Hattie, Jimmie, and Dick. I also found a FORD I couldn't identify buried at Fairview Cemetery: Rev. John D. FORD 1850-1948. Does anyone have information on any of these FORDS?

There were also a lot of HUNTS and BASSES in Hallsville, so you might want to check around where they came from -- Gibson County, TN by way of Wilson County, TN, before that Franklin/Nash County area of NC. Hopefully, your FORDS migrated with one of the above. Oh, the LaGRONES migrated through GA, AL, MS, etc. Good luck. Zou Feagin zfeagin@aol.com

They all say they came from Gregg County, but when I look on the map, I find that they are in Harrison County. The family settled in the Hallsville area, and many are buried at LaGrone Chapel, Noonday, and Forest Hill Cemeteries. The oldest ancestor I have is Jack Isaac FORD 1848-1910. I don’t know if he was born in Texas or came there with his parents. Different family members say the family arrived from Georgia OR Alabama OR Tennessee OR Virginia, so I don’t know where they came from. I’ve heard that he was married to Elizabeth BAKER 1853-1925. I’ve also heard he was married to Ada GREGG or perhaps GRAGG. Another family legend is that two FORD brothers came to Texas on the El Camino Real. They originally settled around San Augustine. Then they had a “falling out” and one went north and one went south. Two additional names associated with Jack Isaac FORD – again family legend – are Ben and George. The legend is that they both lived in Panola County and both were undertakers. I don’t know if they were Jack Isaac’s brothers, uncles, cousins or what. I do have what I believe to be a complete list of Jack Isaac FORD’s children: James Polk - my husband’s grandfather, who married IsaDora BUSSEY Julius Richard Walter Lowrance Minnie Lee Lura Elizabeth Ruby Fay & Pearlie May – twins Lizzie (I think this is Lizzie Bird) I have much information on the BUSSEY family. I also have the married names of some of the female FORDS: Minnie Lee INGRAM Ruby Fay BRAZZIL Pearlie May RICHARDSON Lizzie HARRIS I will appreciate any information on this family.
