You have all been given an automated welcome to the Hamilton, Texas, Mailing List along with instructions pertaining to subscribing, unsubscribing, etc. However, I would like to welcome each of you. I would also like to ask something of you. Could you give me your real names? Some of you I know by your e-mail address, others I do not. Send your response to me, rrw@htcomp.net , the list-owner, and not to the list directly. In addition, would you share something about yourself -- perhaps where your live (city only, no street addresses), something about your immediate family, profession, education, anything you would feel free to share. Go ahead boast some if you wish. I won't put online anything unless you tell me to do so. The list exists to help you locate information relating to your families. Unless a query is posted to the group, the group can't respond. Of course, posting to the list is no guarantee that elusive Great Uncle Josiah will be found. But I can assure you that the possibility of no response is 100% if there is no request for that information. I am Ray Weathers and I live in Hamilton. I can't post a request for family information because, as far as I know, the nearest that my direct ancestors came to Hamilton was Stephenville in Erath County and several places in Hood County. I will offer a little personal information to start the ball rolling. I graduated high school in Big Spring, TX; college at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. Post graduate study has been done at UT Arlington and Tarleton State Univ. at Stephenville, Tx. My work record includes 15 years as a radio announcer/DJ, sales, operating my own shoe repair shop, and serving as a lab assistant in the computer lab at Tarleton's School of Business, retired since 1990. I am married, 39 years at the end of May; one child who is a teacher in Ft. Worth. My wife, Elreeta, was born and reared here in Hamilton. Several branches of her family moved into Hamilton County within the first decade of the Twentieth Century. The Hamilton Mailing List is growing, but so far there has been a timidity about using it. Let's make it a busy spot.
