    3. Well folks, nominations have closed for TXGenWeb's SC election. We had four nominations for SC: Shirley Cullum, Elaine Martin, Trey Holt, & Bettie Wood. Elaine & I declined the nomination, while Shirley accepted. Trey did not respond. This means we only have one "candidate". The plans were to have an election even if there was only one candidate. Some of you have said there was no sense in having a voting period. Since there is only one candidate, who is clearly the winner, do you want to go ahead & vote anyway? Bettie <><

    1. [TXGW-NEWS] October Plans
    2. Bosque Lover
    3. Beginning October 1st, I will be taking nominations for the TXGenWeb SC election. The plans at this time, are to take nominations October 1 through October 7th. Then there will be a campaign period from the 10th through 21st, while folks are getting the "voting booth" ready. Actual voting is expected to begin Oct 22nd, & end the 28th. The new SC will take their seat November 1st. In the event there is only one nominee, we will still have the voting period, with the new SC to take their seat November 1, 2006. Every even year from now on (2008, 2010, 2012, etc.) an election will be held, with the "new" SC taking their seat November 1st. Bettie <><

    1. TXGenWeb Voting Results
    2. Bosque Lover
    3. 86 yes votes 35 no votes The rest wanted to go with what the majority wanted, didn't want to vote, didn't feel informed enough to vote, etc Of the 86 yes voters, 54 wanted elections every 2 years, 16 wanted every 3 years, 7 wanted every 2-3 years 6 wanted every year, 1 wanted every 4 years, 1 wanted every 2-4 years, 1 wanted every 5 years so..... I will add to our guidelines that TXGenWeb has SC elections every 2 years. I am talking with the ASCs about a good time to hold our first regular election, so will have more on that later. Thank you all for helping us get this "together" & voicing your opinions on this. Bettie <><
