    1. [TXGW-NEWS] Real County
    2. Shirley Cullum
    3. Hi Everyone, I am sad to report that we have lost another CC due to health issues. Elton Lacey, CC of Real County, is recovering from a recent stroke and has resigned as from the TXGenWeb. I spoke with Elton on the phone yesterday, and he is in good spirits but feels that he needs to concentrate on getting better. So, if anyone is interested, Real County has been placed for adoption. Shirley

    2. TCF
    3. Good Morning Everyone, The Surfing Committee has a couple of openings for regional surfers. The amount of time involved varies, but is usually no more than 4-5 hours per month. Surfers are assigned a region of the TXGenWeb to surf and select the best county in that region for the month. You may view the regulations and guidelines for the committee here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txgenweb/surfing/Criteria/index.htm#regulations Please let me know if you are interested in joining, or would like more information about the committee. Sincerely, Peggy T. Surfing Committee Chair tcf@genealogist.net

    2. Shirley Cullum
    3. Larry Mundt has volunteered to do look-ups for the TXGenWeb at the Southwest Regional Archives in Fort Worth (see his message below). If you have requests for Larry, please send them directly to him at Larry.Mundt@cancer.org . Please limit your requests to one or two names at a time since there are over 150 CC's in the TXGenWeb. Shirley Larry.Mundt@cancer.org wrote: Subject: possible volunteer assistance To: shirlcullum@sbcglobal.net From: Larry.Mundt@cancer.org Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2007 06:31:54 -0500 I volunteer two mornings a month at the Southwest Region National Archives in Fort Worth. Sometimes they do not have a project for me to do and I could perhaps help if someone on Texas GenWeb needed me to look up records for them. Of course, since all the Native American/Indian records are kept there, this may be the area where I might help most. Please let me know how I might help in this way.
