Tx Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Guadalupe/10241 Surname: ------------------------- To Carol DeBoe,I am afraid this is all I can offer, yet it may provide some new links, lets hope.I am keen to be involved in any progress as it sounds interesting and it may help my tree a little more as well.If you know of any links with a clan, tartan or motto I'd love to know.. The original date noted to James' birth is 20-3-1785,his brother John 13-1-179? and other brother Alexander{author} married in Edinburgh to Margaret Macrosie, their children were Mary and {sir}James born in Edinburgh 16-3-1834 with letters C.M.G. or K.C.M.G.by his name.He married Maria Georgina Munro 1868 daughter of Sir David Munro, Speaker of the house of representatives in Wellington New Zealand.Sir James was renowned for his travels with a Mr.Palliser finding a route for the Trans Atlantic rail across the States and through the Rockies;with a lake(Hector),a mountain(Hector)and a pass;'Kicking horse Pass'.Sir James' uncle..James was perhaps 65 in 1850 census yet Sir James was well educated in fields of surveying, biology etc.etc. who would have been 16 in the 1850 census The name Palliser has been used as a middle name in our tree...(re James P. H) The more recently added dates to my tree suggestJames(the first) was born 20-9-1788 St.Nicholas church Aberdeen married Charlotte Teresa Mathieson 25-5-1811 who died in Seguin Gaudelupe county Texas; had David 2-9-1802 he married Mary Hay 16-11-1855 and he died at Hartfell House Moffatt 23-12-1874;Thomas 26-6-1795,died in Nova Scotia Canada;and Katherine 23-2-1793 as well as Alexander,John and James.Sir James' father may have married an Agnes Melville McKay before Margaret Macrosie and their child(sir)James. The only other James in this treewas the son of James(!) Hector1754 married Susanna Davidson. He was born in 1806 .."Captain wounded by pirates in Indian Ocean, later died"(he had 11 siblings one (John)was my Gr.Gr.Grandfather) There is a Brian Hector of Macduff Scotland assosciated with this line who has a James Hector born1819-1880 who married a Susan Stephen1821-1876.The dates move closerto your1850 census But even so his resources on the Hectors may seem quite bountiful. I do hope he does not mind this referance.Good luck making sense of all this,I hope it's been a help not a hindrance! Regards Richard.W.P.Hector.
