Surnames: Stover, Turk Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JiB.2ACE/688.3.1 Message Board Post: Yes and no. I first found him in the 1880 Census (Grimes county). It only lists he was born in Virginia. In the 1870 Census, he again is in Grimes county, but the last name is incorrectly listed as a 'Stevens'. Again, only listed as being born in Virginia. No sign of him in the 1860 Census, as he was single and probably not with his parents. Although I did find his marriage record, again in Grimes county, for 1862 I believe. Now the tricky part. I recently tracked down a John Stover in the 1850 Census who I thought was mine. He wasnt'. One clue we're working on is that we were told by people in my family that his parents died when he was young and lived with a Thomas Armstrong Turk in Augusta county, Virginia. In the 1850 Census, there is a John T (aged about 14 or 15) who is living with that family. He isn't there in the 1860 Census. Now why he lived with them is unknown.
