Tx Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Grimes?read=83 Surname: GRESSETT, GRISSETT ------------------------- At the battle of the Glorieta Pass, March 28, 1862, in New Mexico, the Texas Mounted Volunteers suffered 47 casualties in a losing battle with the Colorado Volunteers. Among the dead was 2nd Cpl. J. K. Grissett, age 23, from Grimes Co. It seems very likely that J.K. Grissett was related to Charles Gavin Gressett, who came to Grimes Co. from Mississippi. (The Gressett and Grissett variations of the name are frequently seen and seem to be interchangeable until about 1890) Does anybody know any more about J.K. Grissett/Gressett?
