Hi all.. I am looking for a birth record of an Ernest Williams born in Grimes County on 8/20/1888, per records I found at the State Archives. Unfortunately, at the State Archives, a person is unable to LOOK at the records before requesting a copy and I'd like to confirm or deny that this is my grandfather before purchasing a certified copy. That's just way too expensive for my limited genealogy budget! The Ernest Williams I am looking for is the son of David C Williams and Ellen Jane Walters. I understand from reading past posts to the lists that the courthouse burned some time back and many records were lost.
