NETTLES, was born in Alabama in 1832. It is said that except for he and a sister (perhaps named Eliza?), the family died in an outbreak of yellow fever. In 1860, Joseph is shown on the Grimes County, Texas, census as living with the J. B. GRESHAM family, but nothing is known of his sister. In 1861 he enlisted with the Grimes County Grays. Supposedly his sister married a man named MULDREW. Mom says she can remember visiting with her father's aunt and uncle, "...on the river, down towards Houston", but can't remember just where. That was somewhere around 1925. Her dad bought a load of horses from his uncle. We would like to know more about our family. If any of this rings bells with anyone, please let us hear from you.
