My Jennie Chaney was born November 29, 1879 in Iola, Grimes Co., TX and died February 24, 1971 in Harris County, TX. Her son Luther McCleney was born September 7, 1902 in Iola, Grimes Co., TX; I don't know when Jennie and her husband Henry divorced, but I do know that she married an A. L. Bevly in Madison Co., TX in April 1905. Do you know any Bevlys? Inez did give me a lot of background on the Stovers, and coupled with research I did on Rootsweb, I compiled a lot of information, that I will post on the message board once I have it all cleaned up and pretty. When I spoke to Inez, she read me the inscriptions on the tombstones of C.J. Davis and Harriet Gorden Davis, parents of Sarah Ann. I believe they are buried on the Howard farm, near the barn. I could be thinking of other graves she mentioned. I know there are McCleneys and Stovers in Zion and Enon Cemeteries in Iola. My great-grandfather Henry is buried in Plantersville Cemetery. I do no know yet where Jennie is buried. I have a lot more info on the Stovers that I will post later, possibly tonight. I'd appreciate it if you'd give me what you've compiled for your family, as you are a relative through Sarah Ann Davis, and I'm also tracing her lineage and the descendents of her parents. I love genealogy! Don't let me forget to post all the info I got from Inez! Dani Carolyn Swanzy wrote: > I am glad you were able to reach Inez. My g-g-grandmother Frances P. Davis, and their father was Christopher Davis. Do you know who their mother was and where any of them are buried? Where do you live? Are you familiar with the Iola cemeteries? J.C. Davis, which I assume is Jim Davis, and his wife, are buried across the road from the old Enon Cemetery. Frances P. Davis is buried on private property near there. > > I don't know who your g-grandmother Jennie Chaney or her sister, Ella, are. However, I would like to know, because we are probably kin. How are you related to Jennie Chaney? Was Chaney her maiden name? Do you know what year either Jennie or Ella were born or when they died and where they are buried? > > I don't have any pictures of any of these ancestors, except one that I was told was my g-g-grandmother, Frances.
