    1. [TXGRIMES] FWD: Harpers in Grimes County
    2. Can anyone help Marilyn? Please answer her at [email protected] Eleanor Colson <<Subj: Harpers in Grimes County Date: 09/17/2000 11:58:36 AM Central Daylight Time From: [email protected] (Marilyn Miller) To: [email protected] Eleanor, we are chasing down the Harper family that were in Grimes Co. in 1870's. Jordan Harper married Maud Caldwell in 1865 in Montgomery Co. We located Jordan & Maud Harper with daughters, Mary & Texana, on the 1870 Grimes Co. census. After Maud's death at birth of last child, Joseph Alexander Harper, in May 1878, we know of 4 children which were placed with various families. Mary "Mollie" was in the Tharp home, Will was in the Hardee home, Joseph was in the Ammons home all in Madison Co. and last week we found Texana in the Willis Neeley home in Grimes. Through family stories we know that Judge Carl T. Harper of Madisonville was aways referred to as cousin Carl but to date we have not linked our family to his family. Joshua & Mary Harper were on the 1880 Grimes Co. census with son Carl T., so probably Carl was born in Grimes Co. He died somewhere in the time frame of 1939 but we are unable to find where he was buried and what happened to his parents. Or as a matter of fact what happened to Jordan Harper after death of his wife, Maud. Do you have any Grimes Co. cemetery books that list any Harper names. Carl T. died about 1939 but doesnot show up in any cemetery book listing in Madison Co. With what money he had, we felt like a marker would have been placed on his grave. His son, Paul Harper and daughter in law, Bertha Forrest Harper, are buried at Midway Cem. in Madison but no Carl T. Harper, or wife, Virginia "Jennie" Harper are listed. This family is also believed to be tied in with the Judge Joe E. Webb family but also this link has not been established. An elderly Madisonville school teacher told us that a Nathalie Harper had married a Webb which might have been the Joe E. Webb. Just grasping at any straw that might help us tie these families together even if its only by a thread. I am a firm believer in listing to family stories handed down thru generations because usually there is always a grain of truth in what you hear. Appreciate any help that you maybe able to give me. We have sorta hit the brick wall on this family. I am doing this research for my brother in law, Louis C. Harper. Marilyn Miller of Garland [email protected]??
