05 May 1899 Union Mentioned Yesterday Married, in Biloxi, Miss., May 3rd, '99: Prof. B. C. Bauguss and Mrs. E. J. Polland, of that town. Prof. Bauguss is a resident of Grimes county and is extensively known throughout Grimes county, having been engaged in school teaching in this county for the last twenty-five years. Mrs. Polland is a native of Mississippi and both the contracting parties formerly resided in the same neighborhood in Panola county, Miss.; hence they were not strangers. ********************* 16 May 1899 The Reaper's Work Yesterday evening the Grim Reaper, Death, came into the comfortable home of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Nowlin, of Prairie Plains, and stole away the soul of their beautiful 18-year-old daughter, Miss Mamie, who has been sick but a short time. The funeral services were held at the old Henderson cemetery. Miss Pink Stewart daughter, of J. E. Stewart, is very sick at the same place. ******************** County Capital Notes Anderson, May 16 - Senator Geo. D. Neal, Capt. Gordon Boone, Hood Boone, Haynes Shannon and Capt. J. Earl Preston, attorneys from Navasota, were attending court yesterday. Jno F. Martin and H. H. Wilson were witnesses before the court yesterday. The Anderson Dramatic club will place before the public the play "Lady of Lyons" about May 24, or as near that time as possible. County Clerk C. B. No particulars of how he met death were known to the reporter's informant; but that Jim went out from home Wednesday morning; his horse came back Thursday and he was found and the justice of the peace went out Friday to hold an inquest.
