    1. Re: Sikes/Sykes families in Grimes County, TX
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Sikes/Sykes Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JiB.2ACE/596.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks, however, If there was a NB Sikes on the Parker Co., Census that wasn't our NB Sikes. Ours was in Limestone county and I have all his census information from 1850-1910. What I am mostly looking for is any of his descendants who may still be living or information on some of his other siblings. It is possible that some of them died. Pretty sure that at least this sister Nancy died as she wasn't in 1860 census, only in 1850 census. As far as I can tell this other Sikes family whom you are researching is from a different Sikes line (although may be related much further back. I did find a John Herman Sikes (b. 1846) also in Limestone County, TX who was apparently the son of a James Sikes b. 1815 (Green Co., MS and) and his father was Elijah Sikes, son of Jacob son of James son of a Joseph Sikes. That line also had a NB. SIkes, but I can't figure out any relationship between that line and ours. Interesting that this John Herman Sikes also had a daughger named Matty! (b. 1877) There are some postings for Elijah Sikes and his family on rootsweb elsewhere. If you ever make a connection with this family and William Matthew Sikes let me know. I know there were 2 Matthew Sikes' in NC on 1920 census, and the one in Anson is the one I know a bit about, and he was Matthew Guilford Sikes. I have a list of his children, but don't know any connections or their descendants.
