    2. 24 Apr 1899 Suicide at Yarborough Preston Lawther, who lived with his mother near Yarborough station and who was married only a few weeks ago, since his return from service with the 2nd Texas volunteer infantry, committed suicide at his home Saturday night by shooting himself with a revolver. The remains were laid away yesterday afternoon. There appears to be no one in the city who is aware of any cause the young man had for such a rash act, and even some express a doubt that the shooting was intentional. He had been cleaning the weapon during the early part of the day and his wife had gone on a viist from home. His mother was in another part of the house and ran to him when the shot was fired; she ask him how it happened and he simply told her it was an accident, and died in about four minutes, the ball entering just below the left nipple. ********************* 27 Apr 1899 Joel Amos Died Yesterday J.
