Jackson (Jack Venters) was still in Grimes in 1880 but migrated soon afterwards to Parsons, Labette County, Kansas. Possibly came to Texas with Stoneham family--and may have been slave of or worked for, after slavery ended the McIntrye family--Margaret or one of her sons. Lore claims the Venters came to Texas as part of a large group of slaves--some of whom made the trip with them to Kansas. Among that group may have been, Browns, Fagans, Bowens, Dedmans, Teagues, and Kinneys.
