The next two families, I believe, are related. Possibly another married sister. Then the next family, Benjamin Brown and Mary Ann Gilbert Brown with a two month old daughter, Nancy E. They left for Iowa and took a wagon train to Salt Lake City. Check the 1870 Fed Census, Utah Territory, Iron, District 7 Iron City, Utah. Number 11 you will find Gilbert, Jonas, age 57, and his mother, Arminta Gilbert, age 85. I do not find any other mention of them after 1870. I cannot find any other mention of the Gilbert children since 1850.

My grandparents were James Bunton Grimes and his wife Pearl Simmons Grimes. Just wanted to say I will be trying to attend the reunion in Jacksonville, Tx. in March. We recently proved the link to William and Jesse by DNA. We always suspected, but had no proof. This new technology is exciting. Most of my cousins live in the Washington,DC area. I do not know why James moved away and lost contact with the rest of the family. I am sure jobs and the depression had something to to with it. I live in North Carolina.

I don't have any pictures, except 3-4 of my father, but James K. Markey was my great-grandfather. My father was James Michael Thorp and Henry R. Thorp was my grandfather. In 1860 James K. Markey was in Grimes County with his family. He married Mary M. Griggs (who was the widow of Joseph B. Thorp) in August of 1855. Any time I come across a reference of him I get excited. My father loved the name Markey so much his brothers and sisters sometimes called him "Markey". I even thought for years that his name was James Markey Thorp. When I'd look up his name in the genealogy records, I'd put his name in that way. I only found out last year that his name was James Michael Thorp. haha Anyway I do have more info on James K. Markey if you are interested. Just e-mail me at joanm54@yahoo.com. Hope to hear from you.
