My name is Nathan Parrish and I am the oldest son of Nathan Allen Morris, adopted away from the Morris family at the age of 5. John William Morris was my great-great-grandfather. I would like to contact any members of the family who can let me in on what I've missed over the past 35 years. Also, thank you Dennis for the work you have done on the family tree. If it weren't for you I would still be at the brick wall wondering what to do next. I look forward to hearing from ANYONE in the family. Thanks, Nate

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Stover, Gordon, Peters, Nutt, Mallett Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JiB.2ACE/619 Message Board Post: I've probably posted this question before, but I've found out a lot of information since then and was trying to fill in the last pieces. According to the Grimes County Website, the following Stovers are buried there : John Thomas Stover (1832-1899) Sarah Ann Stover (wife of JT Stover) John Miles Stover (grandson of JT Stover) Now, in trying to find their 8 kids, I've found : 1. Harriet E. Gordon (Stover) - Georgetown IOOF Cemetery in Williamson County, Tx 2. Sarah Frances Peters (Stover) - Rogers Prairie Cemetery in Leon County, Tx 3. Addie L. Mallett (Stover) - Texoma Cemetery in Texas County, OK 4. Mary L. Nutt (Stover) - strong evidence she is in Corn Hill Cemetery in Burnet County, Tx 5. Thomas A. Stover - Greenwood Cemetery, Hill County, Tx 6. John Miles Dreden Stover - Zion Methodist Cemetery, Grimes County, Tx My question is on the remaining two : 7. H. Richmond Stover - 2 years old in the 1880 census, no mention of him in the 1900 census (JT Stover died in 1899 and listed only 5 living kids of 8 in his obiturary. I assume H. Richmond was one of the three deceased, the other being Harriet Gordon and the unknown below) 8. unknown Stover - not listed in the 1880 census, and no mention in the 1900, but must have existed (see note above) Any help on the remaining two is greatly appreciated

    1. FW:Grimes County Cemeteries
    2. Please answer Steve to his email at scvoss@cox.net He is not on this mailing list. Eleanor Colson ******************** Hello,   My name is Steve Voss - a descendant of early day settlers of Grimes County.   I'm sincerely trying to locate/find the McIntire Cemetery in or near Grimes Prairie in Grimes County.  I find no listing of a "McIntire" or "Grimes Prairie" Cemetery on your cemetery listings for Grimes County.   I believe the graves of my McIntire ancestors to be located on my GGG Grandmother Margaret McIntire's property - who first came to Grimes County circa 1823-25.  I have the picture of Margaret McIntire's Grimes Prairie home, built in 1825, which I found in the Library of Congress.  My GG Grandfather grew up there, and my Great Grandfather and Grandfather McIntire were born in that home.     I have a copy of a couple of letters indicating approximately where the McIntire Cemetery in Grimes County is/was located.   I just need help in getting precise directions to the grave sites of my McIntire ancestors.  Hopefully someone in Grimes County will know, or can find, where the cemetery is located.     According to one letter (unedited):   Quote ... ...These are snapshots that I made (seemingly) about October of 1980 of the tomb stones in the McIntire lot on Grimes Prairie.      They are poor ones, admittedly !      I took the following information by hand:                   In Memory of             Margaret  McIntire               d. July 15, 1861               Come unto me                    In Memory of              Robert McIntire                               Born              Oct. 22,  1812                            Died              April 26, 1895        Behold I come quickly.                                             Sarah,  wife             Robert  McIntire             d. Feb 15, 1894                Aged 72 yrs.                                  B.E. McIntire                d. July 27, 1874                  aged 29 years                                        Sincerely,                                      (signed) Lois Stoneham   ...   End Quote   The letter above was accompanied by two illegible photos of Margaret McIntire's grave marker and one each of  Robert McIntire's and B. E. McIntire's.  No photo of Sarah's.    According to another letter (unedited) I have - dated 21 Sep 1975 from Margaret and Leslie L. O'Connor to Lois Stoneham:   Quote    Dear Ms. Stoneham,           Your letter of 15 September 1975 was most welcome.  We,  the O'Connors, bought the .9 + (plus) acres adjacebt to the McIntyre Cemetery from the Bluebonnet Farms in order to preserve it, and with the idea of transfering it and a small amount of property around it suitable for a small picnic area, for the cost of the survey, to the Grimes County Historical Society or such a body as the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, whichever proved to be the most active and effect- ive.           We want to keep a portion of the land to maintain the con- tact and history for the children and grandchildren of ourselves and those of Ivan T. Collier ....   End Quote   The above letter is two pages long, and covers some of the McIntire history (with some inaccuracies according to other evidence I've gathered).   Do you know of anyone in Grimes County who may be able to give me precise directions to the McIntire graves located in, or near, Grimes Prairie ?   Any help would be deeply appreciated !   Respectfully,   Steve Voss San Angelo, Tx   scvoss@cox.net

I found the other marriages on the IGI as a large record of just Grimes County marriages. Marriages for the years you mention for just Grimes County are not on the web site to my knowledge. I do not search just for a certain surname, but the entire range of marriages for those particular marriage books. I would be more than happy to add the names you mention. I work full time now so it may be a few days.
