    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Singletary Patterson Smith Brooks Gowen Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JiB.2ACE/633 Message Board Post: I am searching for any descendants of Robert Singletary (b. 1828) and Rena (Garena?) Patterson (b. 1829?). I am also searching for burial information for them. Robert Singletary was on the 1880 Grimes Co., TX census Pct. 2 age 52 b. NC and his wife, Serena F. age 51 b. FL. Their sons, Seth (age 22 b. TX), Hardy (age 21 b. TX) and William A (or H) (age 14 b. TX). One of Robert's daughters was an Annie E. Singletary who married a Samuel C. Gowen (b. 1838 AL) . I know that both Robert Singletary and Samuel C. Gowen are listed as CSA veterans of Grimes County, but don't know where either of them is buried. I do know that Samuel's wife, Annie E. Gowen was buried in the Thompson Creek Cemetery in Brazos County, TX. As late as 1920 she appeared on the Bedias, Grimes Co., census. She died on Jan 30, 1923 per court record. I know that a son of Hardy Singletary was William Henry Singletary b. 3/8/1895 and was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery there in Grimes County and I am guessing that Mable Hunt Singletary b. 8/20/1899 was his wife?? and that Robert Singletary b. 7/9/1925 died 7/24/1995 was their son? From the 1900 Grimes Co., census 2 pct I learned that Hardy Singletary's wife was Ila b. 9/1878 b. TX) and that he also had sons named Levi E. b. 8/1880 b. TX, a son named P.A. b. 1/1888 b. TX, and a son named Martin M. b. 3/1890 b. TX) Also I know that there was a Josephine Smith age 68 on the 1920 Bedias, Grimes Co., census who was also a daughter of Robert Singletary and Rena Patterson. Josephine Smith is also in this same household with Annie E. Gowen and her brother Seth Singletary. Also in their household was a son of Josephine Smith, Robert F. Smith. Per the 1910 Grimes CO., 7 pct census Josephine Smith was widowed, but had had 9 children, only 4 were still living. She was in the household of a Brooks, who had a son named Sam. T. Brooks. Josephine was listed as this Mr. Brooks' aunt. Per the earlier 1860 Rusk County, TX census Robert Singletary and Reany Patterson also had a daughter named Ellen. I do know from the 1900 Grimes Co., census that Samuel Gowen and Annie E. Singletary had been married for 20 years and had no children. I am very interested in this family, and if anyone has any further information on them, please e-mail me!!
