    1. [TXGRIMES] Perry, Lands, Fuqua, Turner, Gressett, Allen, Gardner, Richards
    2. Frank and Lois Richardson
    3. Today I received a wonderful outline of the Lands family, going back to 1807, from Betty Boseke-Coleman. Betty, are you on this list? Thank you so much. All of those names in the subject of this message married Perrys in Washington or Grimes County, and some might have lived in Montgomery Co., and other areas.. Are there any cousins out there? I am learning about the children of Gardner D. Perry II from one of his descendants in Houston. I know some of the descendants of Charles Perry, his brother, and almost nothing about the other children of Gardner D. Perry I. My grandfather was Selser (often misspelled Seltzer) Howard Perry, and I know little of cousins except for the Lands. I grew up far away. One sister was Kate, and I remember meeting her. I believe that she lived mostly in Hearne. Where are you, my cousins? Lois Perry Richardson, daughter of A. P. Perry and Elva Ellen Trimble

    3. Lois, this is too weird. I just that second e-mailed a newfound Currie cousin, when in comes your e-mail with more of family names connected with Currie: Perry, Selser, Gardner D., Howard. If there's no connection it's certainly a wild coincidence. My great-great-grandfather was William Cromarty Currie; his second wife was Hester Ann 'Nancy' Selser Richards Currie; their first son was Howard Cromarty Currie, who had a son named Gardner David Currie. There is also a Perry in the mix but it's too late to dig the papers out tonight. Back in a day or two, Leta

    2. Ginger Sisco
    3. My McMellin family is from Grimes County. I just wondered if the McMillan might also be related. Do you have any records of a John V., Birdie, Inez, William, Oliver, Jesse or Freda within your McMillan information? They would have been in Grimes County in the late 1890's to early 1900's. I will be glad to share what little information I have. Ginger I am searching for the burial place in Grimes County of Henry Clay McMillan. The date of death is approximately between 1890 and 1910. A cousin believes he is buried in a cemetery off the highway between Anderson and Plantersville, perhaps near a church. Can anyone tell me the names of the cemeteries and churches in this area, and the names of any Grimes County cemeteries where any McMillan is buried? 3. Posted on: Grimes Co. Tx Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Grimes/134 Surname: STANDLEY, BECKWITH, BECKWORTH, TAYLOR, JOHNSON ------------------------- To expand on the STANDLEY-BECKWITH/BECKWORTH connection: Sam B. STANDLEY b 1829 Henry co. AL, married Nancy Skinner in 1850. They had 1 child, Elizabeth, before most of the STANDLEY family moved to TX in 1854. Sam and his family settled in Trinity co. and 3 more children were born, Barney in 1855, Ritha Malinda in 1860 and Georgia or Georgiana in 1863. Before the 1870 census Nancy had died and Sam STANDLEY was living in Brazos Co. TX. In the HH were the 4 children from his first marriage. This is where facts & family stories are mixed. The family stories tell of Sam getting married to a widow, Annie BECKWORTH/BECKWITH, who had a young son named Dave. The facts are that the 1880 census listed Sam STANDLEY age 55 living in Grimes County, TX. In the HH are wife Annie age 35, daughter Georgiana age 16, son David age 8 (probably the son from Annie's first marriage) and James Leonard STANDLEY age 4. (before James Leonard died in 1959, he told of having a half-brother named Dave) By the end of 1900 Barney STANDLEY age 55, had moved his wife, Lucy Johnson age 31, and their 5 children, Molly age 11, Lester age 9, Lawrence age 7, Leora age 5 and Martin age 3, to Madison Co. TX. By 1900 James Leonard STANDLEY age 25 was living in the northern part of Grimes co. with his wife, Annie TAYLOR age 22 and their daughter, Ada age 2. One day James Leonard STANDLEY heard of a man named STANDLEY who had just moved into Madison co. This was the first time James had heard of anyone spelling their name like he did, with a "d". He knew that he had family somwhere, so he took off walking the 10 miles to where he found his half-brother Barney Samuel STANDLEY. After a good visit, James went back to Grimes co. and moved his family up to Madison co. to be near his brother. >From these 2 half-brothers grew the STANDLEY families of Madison County. I would still like to know more about Sam's second wife, Annie. What was her maiden name ? Was her first husband a BECKWORTH or BECKWITH ? Where did Sam & Annie get married, Grimes, Trinity, Houston, Brazos or Madison Counties ? When did Sam STANDLEY die and where is he buried ? Any information would be appreciated.

    3. Posted on: Grimes Co. Tx Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Grimes/129 Surname: Sanders, Wren ------------------------- I am looking for any information on Adeal Augustus Sanders, my paternal grandfather. He resided in Grimes County (Iola) between 1888 and 1930. Adeal A. SANDERS, husband of Nora L. WREN, lived in Iola between 1888 and 1930. They had numerous sons and daughters: Thomas H., Milton E., Kenneth, Norman A., Trannie, Lucille, Hazel, and Emma. Adeal A. Sanders, and his brother John Sanders were merchants in Iola and owned the Sanders Bros General Store in Iola. The store is still standing, but the name has changed. Adeal Sanders married Nora Wren Adeal in Grimes County in 1888. He and his wife Nora are buried in the Zion Methodist Cemetery in Iola. Adeal Sanders and his brother, John, came from Bibb County GA and Nora came from Mississippi. The 1910 census shows that Nora's father-in-law (Thomas E WREN) lived with them. At that time he was 85. I would appreciate any information regarding either the SANDERS family (Adeal or John) or the Thomas E. Wren Family.

    3. Posted on: Grimes Co. Tx Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Grimes/127 Surname: Shelton, Smith, Merchant ------------------------- The 1870 census for Grimes Co. lists Lewis Shelton, wife Elizabeth and three children, William, Thomas and Henry. Also listed in the household are Catherine Smith and son Sanders Smith. My particular interest is in Catherine Merchant Smith, my great grandmother and Sanders, my grandfather. They and the rest of the children moved to Grimes Co. from Rapides Pr. Louisiana after the death of Sanders Sr. There is speculation that Elizabeth and Catherine are sisters based partly on the indication that they are both from Mississippi and the proximity of their ages. I am searching for further information on the Shelton family and anything about the death and burrial location of Catherine.

If so, I have considerable information on that family. I am sure that we are barking up the same tree, since Frank's wife was named Rebeeca Colson. Please contact me via e-mail, since I rarely check the Grimes County Quieries. I do show a Gaines Wren (b: Mar 11, 1886, Iola and d: April 16, 1958, Iola), as a son of Frank Bates Wren and Rebecca Colson. I am trying to document that my great grandfather, Thomas E. Wren was a brother of Davis Bates Wren. Both Davis Bates and Thomas E. Wren resided in Grimes County, Texas during the mid-1880's. Bill Sanders [email protected]
