Possibly. I received information that he was buried in Nughey Cemetery, but can find no record of it. Where is Hughey Cemetery? Thanks, Sandra Thompson

In reading your posting, I remembered there were Perry families written up in the Falls Family History - Absalom Perry and Judge Albert G. Perry. There is mention of Washington County and Grimes County. and photographs of Judge Albert G. Perry and Mrs. Harriet Elizabeth (Grimes) Perry. The book is: Families of Falls County compiled and Edited by the Falls County Historical Commission Eakin Press Austin, Texas page 350 and 351. If you do not have the book available - it can be ordered - however, I will glad to review the names mentioned and E-mail to you until you can see a copy. My E-mail [email protected] My great-great grandfather came to Texas with the Robinson Colony and received a league of land in 1834 - settling in Falls County. Lena Stone Criswell
Dr. Richardson: This will be "grabbing at straws" but have to ask you if you have the RINGGOLD line in your family. James Wright Ringgold married Susan Ann R. Gardiner in Montgomery Co., AL, 1835 and moved to the Republic of Texas in 1837. They came from Washington to Grimes Co,Tx. I have not been successful in tracing the family of Susan A. Gardiner. I only know she was born in Wake Co., N.C. and she reported to the census taker that her mother was born in Pa. and father born in N. Y. Would your Gardners match with the family mentioned above? Shall appreciate any information. Trying to locate Perry descendants who may still live in the area. The first one who settled in Washington Co. was Ducalion A. Perry, b. in the Gates-Perry Cemetery, supposed to be the oldest in Washington Co. It is located near Graball, on the land of Matt Moore (private property). Ducalion m. two widows of original settlers: 1. Jane Gates (Kuykendall) Perry, who is buried beside him. 2. Eunice Elizabeth Gardner (Little) Perry, who m. a 3rd time to William Sherman, Postmaster at Chappell Hill. He had several children by first wife who were cared for by their uncle, A. G. Perry and his wife, Harriet Grimes Perry, after Ducalion's death. By his second marriage, he had one son, born after he was murdered. This son was Gardner Ducalion Perry I. Gardner's children may have lived in Grimes (my branch did), Montgomery, or Washington Counties, that I have heard of. There may be quite a few descendants in Houston or Harris County, by now. My grandmother was Ella Esther Turner, and her mother was "Esta" Gressett, from near Iola. She married Selser Howard Perry, son of Gardner. I have quite a bit of information to share on this family, and would like to correspond with other relatives/descendants. Lois Perry Richardson, Ph.D. Retired Educator, Brenham

Thank you so much, but my Asena Arnold Thompson was born in about 1804-6. She and Alex Thompson got married in May 1829, and their son, Hendrick was born in 1830. She died sometime after Hendrick was born - and Alex married his second wife Martha Boyacan (Boykin?) in Oct 1839. Alex was in the TX Navy and he could very well have been gone when she died. That's sort of why I feel that she should be buried in the Arnold family cemetery - if there was one. I have always wanted to believe that Alex was buried with her, but since he was newly married - like only a couple of months - when he died, he could have been buried with the Boyacan's wherever they are. Thanks again Joanne
Joanne, I'm not sure if this is the same person but it just might be. Mustang Cemetery Mrs Arrena Thompson 25 Feb 1831 - 5 Nov 1888 no Alexander Thompson D.
