His first four children were born in Illinois.He arrived in Anderson County,Texas in 1840. His second son Woodson was in the confederate armey and after the war he did not return to the family clan in Anderson and Navarro Counties. Instead he went to Grimes County.His first, wife Caroline (Newsom) Gray is buried in Mustang cemetery in Grimes County. We believe Woodson is there also. Any information about this family would be greately appreciated.
Hi, would SKS please do a lookup in 1860 and/or 1870 Grimes Co census for Una Merilda HAMMONDS or STUCKEY? Believe she was a STUCKEY, but a George HAMMONDS was said to be her brother, so her mother may have been married twice. Una b. ca 1850-5, married John Madison ABEL in Brazos Co in 1871. Trying to determine parents. She and John resided Collin Co in 1880, but believe they retained family ties in Grimes Co as all their children married there in 1890's. Beth Abel Jones

Upon arriving in Texas, along with 50 other slaves, he was separated from his first family in Marshall, Texas. He was then purchased and taken to the Bryan area and in 1871,one of his sons Allen Williams, who was 7 when the separation occured found him in Bryan. Looking to correspond with African Americans with the surname Williams.

Hello Eleanor, I found J C Yeager Buried in Pankey Cem. -- Born Sep 8 1895 Died June 1 1952 She was not listed in the book Under Yeager or Worsham. There are others none seem to have a name that would fit. Glad to Help. Maurine

For Pankey Cemetery, I have in my files that John Franklin Yeager and Rogilla (Houlie) Worsham Yeager are buried there. I can't seem to find where I got that info though. John Thomas was one of Austin's 300 original settlers. There is a Union Hill Cemetery in Walker County. It is about 9 miles (15 km)SW of Huntsville on FM 1374 in what is called "Union Hill Community". It appears that there is a community center at that location also. It can be reached from either Huntsville or New Waverly on FM 1374. Hope this helps!

Lee, b. 1784 VA, d. Nov. 12, 1863, Grimes Co. his 2nd wife, Anne Eleanor Scott Lee, b.abt 1810 Ireland and d. abt. 1866, Grimes Co., Texas. Her estate documents mention two sons, George John and Richard E. Scott, and a dau., Josephine Emma Howard. Anyone information about the burial sites of Charles B. and Anne Eleanor (Ellen) would be sincerely appreciated. Or, if you have any information about her descendants, would love to exchange data. Thomas, son of James Avery Thomas and Amanda Wheeler, was born ca. 1848, and married Sarah Jane Reed on 6 December 1866. The marriage is recorded in BOTH Montgomery and Grimes County. Samuel Thomas is buried in the Mustang Cemetery in upper Grimes County. I would always be interested in sharing information on the Thomas family, but am most interested in learning who the parents of Sarah J. Reed were. Any clues would be appreciated.
