    1. [TXGRIMES] Grimes County Book
    2. $100 might seem pricey for a book - I have the Walker County book and it is so well used that it is falling apart! People are waiting in line to buy a used one. It is a HUGE book and I do lookups for others - it is a treasure indeed! If the Grimes County book is anything like it - it's worth it at any price. Now, how do I contact anyone who still has a volume of the Grimes book for sale? And is there anyone on this Grimes list who has the book and is willing to do lookups? (Hi Eleanor - we share a Crawford line) Charlotte Sandel Beck - researching THOMAS in Grimes Co.

    1. [TXGRIMES] Re: My Grimes family
    2. I'd like to post info about my Grimes family again. It is pretty skimpy, and if anyone has any connection, or knows where the lady is buried, I would appreciate it John Phillips Wilkinson married Sarah Jane Foster in Walker County shortly after the Civill War. He was a CW vet from Alabama. She was a granddaughter of Norris and Rebecca Foster who settled in the Loma district along the San Jacinto River east of Huntsville in the late 1830s. John and Sarah Jane moved into Grimes County and had four children before she died. Best we can determine, they lived around Bedias and/or Grimes Prairie. Date of her death unknown, but it had to be before 1880. John remarried and removed to Hill County. I suspect, but have no proof, that John P. came to Texas because he had relatives in Grimes County. He did have a sister, Rhoda, who married Hess Grigsby, son of a pioneer family in Walker County. Any information would help. love joan

    2. How do I order one???? That's too much to ask anyone to put out for a book. If you could find out how I can get one...you and I can share it if you want. I mean I will buy it and you may borrow it when you want to. Thanks! BTW, how is your mom? Ann

    2. Ann There was a Grimes County Historical book published about 1881 that has a story on Roans Prairie. Also has write up of many Grimes County Families. Lot of good helpful data in it. I know some folks are sorry they did not enter their family history. That is so sad. Copy is in the Navasota Library. There is still a few for sale from Grimes County Historical Society. Believe they are $100. Maurine
