The Gregg County Genealogy Society will meet Tuesday, September 2, 2003 in the Moeschle Room at the Longview Public Library. Personal genealogical sharing and visiting among members and guests begins at 6:30 PM with the business meeting and program at 7:00 PM. Visitors are always welcome. Our program will be presented by David Skidmore who is the owner and founder of PhotoMiracles photographic restoration and retouching studio here in Longview, Texas. Mr Skidmore has been involved in digital imaging in one form or other since the late 80's and heavily involved since 1995. He was also the owner of Spectra Digital Imaging where he specialized in architectural graphics and rendering. Digital artwork is of special interest to him as a pastime and he has participated in many contests in recent years. Mr Skidmore has worked as a graphic designer and web designer and many of his designs are currently in use today. An avid amateur photographer, he has studied and practices many different styles of photographic retouching and restoration. He is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals Interest and research in family genealogy led to the realization that there was a need for expert and artistic restoration of many of his family photographs. Realizing also that others would have that same need, he started PhotoMiracles. In his business, Mr. Skidmore uses state of the art computer technology to digitally restore photographic images to close to original condition. This includes imaging manipulation, forensic and analysis software that allows valuable antique images to be saved from certain loss due to age, deterioration, or damage.
