The Gregg County Genealogy Society will meet Tuesday, March 2, 2004 in the Moeschle Room of the Longview Public Library. Personal genealogical sharing and visiting among members begins at 6:30 pm with the business meeting and program at 7:00 pm. Visitors are always welcome. We have a double treat for you with Betsy Lanclos and Ruby Burnett. Betsy will bring a reproduction of a "Dear Jane Quilt." The original Dear Jane quilt was made by Jane Stickle in 1863 in Shaftsbury, Vermont. It is an amazing quilt with 265 squares. Betsy is part of the Gregg County Lawrence Family and she and her dad have been in genealogy for years. Ruby Burnett will bring an "Underground Railroad Quilt" and explain how they were used by slaves fleeing to the North and Canada. These quilts are full of symbols and codes.
